* Day 1 QUITO (Saturday, Monday
or Wednesday)
Transfer from
airport to hotel
* Day 2 QUITO- EQUATORIAL MONUMENT (B)
Visit of the old city, where the churches, monasteries, and convents
in the ornate
colonial baroque style are so well preserved. Also
included a visit the Equatorial
Line Monument. Return to hotel.
Afternoon at leisure.
* Day 3 OTAVALO (B)
This morning,
enjoy a unique experience admiring the art and crafts market of Otavalo: sweaters , ponchos, and Indian jewelry are sold there. In the afternoon visit Cotacachi the city of leather goods. Then continue
to San Antonio de Ibarra, the wood carving center. Certainly you will enjoy the
beautiful sight of San Pablo Lake and Imbabura,
on the way to Quito.
Return to hotel.
* Day 4 QUITO-RIOBAMBA (B,D)
Early morning
departure, traveling on the Pan American Highway, driving through the Andes and wind on along the Avenue of Volcanoes like Cotopaxi,
Antisana, Tungurahua and Chimborazo. Also we will visit some handicraft markets and the colonial
cities of Latacunga and Riobamba. Overnight in Riobamba.
* Day 5 RIOBAMBA – ALAUSI – CUENCA (B)
Departure from
Riobamba to Alausi where we will board the train for the scenic
ride, (departures wed, frid, sun), Via Devil’s Nose to Huigra. (we recommend
you to go on the top of a wagon to have a beautiful sight ). Continuing by bus, we will stop at the archaeological Canari ruins of Ingapirca (entrance fee, included). Continue to hotel in Cuenca.
* Day 6 CUENCA
– GUALACEO – CHORDELEG (B)
Full day excursion
visiting Cuenca, located in the Andes-rimmed Pucaramba
Valley, Cuenca is
a charming town, recently named World Cultural Heritage Site for its architecture and colonial style. We will visit one of the most interesting museums in Ecuador “The museum of the Indian Cultures”. Finally , we will visit the artisan town of Gualaceo
and gold artisan town of Chordeleg.
* Day 7 CUENCA – GUAYAQUIL
(B)
In the morning
transfer to the airport and board an airplane to Guayaquil. You will enjoy the beautiful flight across
the Andes, the “Santuario del Cajas”, and observe the banana, African palm plantations, and shrimp pools. Upon your arrival to Guayaquil, we will
visit the city, the monuments and the “PIER 2000”, a modern center of art in front of the Guayas river.
A visit to the top of the “El Carmen Hill”, is followed. From there, you have a panoramic view of Guayaquil.
* Day 8 GUAYAQUIL (B)
